HIGH We see the many faces of war through the characters’ stories.
LOW Searching through and replaying the extensive dialogue trees can be tiring.

Enlisted is a bold attempt at tackling a bloated genre. The World War II shooter has more entries than I can count, but even bolder than trying to crack this style is that it’s also entering the similarly-crowded online-only field.
HIGH Great scope, solid puzzles, good sense of humor.
LOW Ghosting through doors was not adequately tutorialized.
WTF The, uh… ‘style’ of Akiro’s portrait art.
HIGH Plane explosions are notably satisfying.
LOW The 15-ish hours of grinding to get every plane. Per faction.
WTF You want me to sink a German Aircraft Carrier? Um… What?
My first foray into first-person shooters with a heavy focus on strategy and mechanics began with the closed beta of Hell Let Loose, a World War II-era shooter developed by Black Matter and published by Team 17. Their project focuses more on the tactical and realistic aspects of firing a gun, more similar in scope to ARMA 3 and America’s Army than to something like Call of Duty.
Battlefield is returning to where it all started. The original Battlefield 1942 was set in WWII. Now, 16 years later, Battlefield V is again heading back to the second world war. While BFV had an alpha earlier this year on PC, this latest open beta is going to be the first time most fans will be able to finally get their hands on it.
