WTF Did Ubisoft confirm a shared universe with another game?
The most exciting piece of information I took away from last week’s Ubisoft preview event for Assassin’s Creed: Origins wasn’t the revamped control scheme or changes to the core gameplay the series is known for. No, for me it was the announcement of the Discovery Tour, an open-world and combat-free deep-dive into the history of Ancient Egypt.
Freedom. Faith. Firearms.
It’s upon these tenets that the citizens of Hope County, Montana have built their lives. These are the pillars by which they live, work, and teach their children. These are the fundamental convictions that the residents of this small, middle-American county turn to for guidance in how to come together as a community. They are also the tenets that a dangerous cult twists and perverts for their own ends in Far Cry 5.
Ubisoft recently invited GameCritics for an extended session of their upcoming Ghost Recon Wildlands, and I’m happy to say that even after playing it for four hours straight, I still want to hop right back into the world they created. Wildlands dramatically freshens up this long-standing franchise by setting the action in an open- world, fictionalized version of Bolivia.
