Needs no haystacks.

HIGH Seeing almost any of the wraith powers for the first time.
LOW Bizarre pacing kills all momentum and drags the campaign down.
WTF Why was branding introduced so late? It should be a core mechanic!

I've blogged about it a few times, but in case you haven't noticed, I'm pretty stoked for Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor. Like I've said before, the game wasn't even on my radar until I got hands-on at PAX, but it only took a minute or two before I […]
HIGH Mastering Legolas' abilities to finally get that first player kill.
LOW Getting ambushed and destroyed before I knew what hit me.
WTF Gollum killed me? Gollum?!
HIGH The environments and weapon/armor models look great.
LOW "Defend this point for X amount of time" wears out its welcome fast and early.
WTF Three people defeat an entire siege by themselves. Maybe Aragorn should have taken them with the Fellowship instead.
HIGH The cutscenes will make you wistful for the superior films.
LOW My wrist. Ow… Ow; my wrist.
WTF Who is this game for!?
HIGH Finishing the game in two sessions and ending the agony ASAP.
LOW The entire project feels undercooked in every way.
WTF A bunch of f'ing hobbits take down the Balrog?!?
Erin's right when she says that The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers works surprisingly well as a beat 'em up, but I think the reason why it works so well doesn't have that much to do with notions of Good and Evil. When I look at the stories Tolkien has created, I see a grand legend.
Mike really hit the nail on the head when it comes to most of the game's problems. In fact, if anything, he didn't go far enough when it came to the shortcomings with the game's combat system. This game features one of the most ill-conceived targeting systems I've ever encountered.
While gamers who are not fans of The Lord Of The Rings will likely find The Two Towers to be nothing more than an average action title (especially given its short length of twelve missions), I feel that the true test of any licensed game is whether it is able to hold up under the scrutiny of the fans. The answer in this case is yes.
