After This Life Of Crime, I’m Going Straight.
HIGH Terrific and zany mask customizations.
LOW Absolutely terrible teammate AI.
WTF Police assaults that last forever, easily producing hundreds of SWAT team members.
HIGH In the water, pulling the left trigger.
LOW The slightly-off epilogue.
WTF Becoming a blood monster.
HIGH The final swimming segment is absolute brilliance.
LOW The last scene of the game seems slightly misplayed.
WTF Who keeps cutting all the rope ladders in half?
I hate to be the one to rain on Mike's parade—OK, actually I don't mind at all—but calling this game "the biggest surprise of this generation of gaming" and a "flawlessly executed adventure" is a little excessive. And before I go any further, let's get one thing straight: for the last time, the movie Pitch Black is overrated—vastly overrated. Please make a note of this.

It's exceedingly rare that a single game can both build on established concepts and integrate its own innovations to create a wholly unique experience while exuding sheer perfection in execution, but Escape from Butcher Bay is just such a game.
There isnt much to add to Mikes review. He pegged all of the major problems and few highpoints Enclave showcases. Whether its the shoddy save and combat systems or the extreme difficulty, I agree with him. There are a couple things that I feel deserve further attention.
Enclave is a shining example of the original controller breaker games—a title so aggravating due to its poor design that its all but guaranteed to have gamers chucking controllers across the room with frightening regularity. I love a hard game as much as the next guy (maybe even more so—I've been pretty vocal in my disappointment with overly simplistic games), but when the difficulty springs from cheap death, a shoddy combat system, and one of the worst save systems I've seen since the 8-bit days, I think its safe to say we have a game thats a controller breaker for all the wrong reasons.
