The one good thing that came out of those terrible Mortal Kombat movies was the soundtrack, or more specifically, the opening song from the soundtrack. Not only does it get the heart pumping and the blood going when you first hear it, it also gets the feet moving too.
That must be what compelled these "cosplayers"—at least I think they are cosplayers—to just break out the ghetto blaster and dance like fools.
HIGH The story mode is one of the best ever seen in a fighter.
LOW The AI vacillates between "invincible" and "lobotomized".
WTF Shang Tsung's "Joker" fatality.
I've been putting a good amount of time into the new Mortal Kombat, and if you read this blog, you'll know I'm a fan of this latest iteration. I have much admiration for the work that NetherRealm Studios has put into the project, and in my view, this is the best Mortal Kombat of them all, bar none.
I haven't had a ton of time to play games lately, but what little time I have has been spent with the new Mortal Kombat. After the long, unbroken string of utterly craptastic sequels put forth by the series, it's extremely gratifying to see the franchise finally get its act together and reboot itself into respectability.
I was excited for Mortal Kombat. The demo played pretty well, albeit a little on the slow side. The special editions of the game looked pretty neat. It felt like a throwback rather than an attempt to keep expanding in the direction that the games took during the last console generation. It seemed like a day-one purchase for me, if only to support the revival of a fighting game that used to share the spotlight with Street Fighter some 15 years ago.
There has been an awful lot of talk lately regarding Ed Boon's new Mortal Kombat game due out on April 19th. So I figure, why not post some Mortal Kombat cosplay images? CelestialMaiden is responsible for this stunning Jade cosplay.
