This isn’t a best-of list. There’s no reason to bother with one of those, since I’ve already been clear about the fact that the best game of the last decade is Deadly Premonition, and there’s no reason for me to spend time trying to justify the obvious truth of that statement.

Better Than Human
HIGH Every setpiece.
LOW Not realizing I could do a certain action, causing me to miss a key event.
WTF Rachael is a refreshingly atypical female squadmate. Why isn't there more of her?
So… Kickstarter. If you're reading this blog, then you are most likely someone who is already in the know, and probably don't need me to explain what it is or how it works. Everything is Chrome in the Future
HIGH The entire last hour is packed with plot twists, explosions, and boss fights.
LOW Shooting a robot off of a squadmate without hitting her. It took me more tries than I'd care to admit.
WTF The game feels borderline anti-Japanese, which is strange considering it's a Japanese game.
Without a doubt, Mass Effect 3 going to be one of the biggest, most important releases of 2012. In some ways, it's also a test for BioWare—after developing legions of loyal fans thanks to their high-quality Western-styled RPGs, their future was called into question due to lackluster titles released after being acquired by Electronic Arts.
So, the Mass Effect 3 demo. I hesitate to bring it up, but I can't let it pass without making at least a few brief comments. First off, I really hope that the game addresses Ashley's radical make over… if the game hadn't told me that's who it was, I never would have recognized her, and I don't mean that in a good way.
