The friendly folks at EA Sports were kind enough to invite GameCritics to a closed beta of the hotly anticipated Madden NFL 23. Obviously, I jumped at the chance to spend a few hours with it, as this latest Madden is expected to represent actual forward progress into the current generation of consoles, and not just a cross-generation juke step.

Capcom recently released a teaser trailer at this year’s Tokyo Game Show for their new team-based Resident Evil shooter codenamed “Project Resistance”.
I had a chance to get a hold of Relic’s upcoming Dawn of War III during their recent closed multiplayer-only beta, and I found myself torn. While there were changes and improvements I enjoyed, there were also some design decisions I found extremely questionable. Keeping in mind that this is technically a beta even if the game does release in a few weeks, I’m going to list a few of the pros and cons I came across in the handful of matches I got to play.
A few months ago, I played the alpha build of For Honor, Ubisoft’s multiplayer-centric knights-versus-Vikings-versus-samurai dueling game. I mostly loved it for its authentic-looking visual design and deceptively deep combat engine, but had some concerns regarding its accessibility and barrier to mastery.
