According to ESRB, this game contains: Comic Mischief, Mature Sexual Themes, Mild Violence
Parents really shouldn't worry too much about The Sims. This is one of the few instances where the rating may have actually been too severe. The violence in the game tends to be face slapping or shoving, and the Sims don't engage in any sexual activity outside of kissing. Even when Sims bathe or take showers, pixilated blocks appropriately censor them.
Deaf and Hard of Hearing gamers will be missing out on the Sims cute gibberish language, along with any cries the Sims might make when they are upset over something. The game is otherwise very accessible.
PC gamers who have already played the game will probably find the PlayStation 2 port lacking. The lack of tools to produce customized objects and skins, along with the inability to download interesting items off fansites will be quite frustrating.
Console gamers will probably enjoy the 'Get a Life' mode, but may find the open-ended PC mode a little too unstructured for their tastes.
