Parents should be wary before buying this game for little children. Although the games 2D characters are stylized and a little cartoony, the fights they get into can be quite brutal. The game can get pretty dark and spooky too. Teenaged gamers shouldn't have any problems with it.
Fans of 2D fighters will love the wide array of techniques at their disposal.
Fans of 3D fighters might wonder why anyone would play a game without a sidestep anymore.
People who already own Guilty Gear X2 might want to think twice, as the sequel added better animation and a more diverse character and move list to this predecessor. From a purely deterministic standpoint, there's no contest. Fans of hand drawn animation will savor the lovingly drawn and animated characters.
Deaf and Hard of Hearing gamers will miss a decent soundtrack and a bunch of mumbled Japanese voice samples that add little to nothing to the gameplay.
