Yes, would be great to keep this going plz
Why was/is there no “Whatcha Been Playin’ Forum – September”?
Finally got around playing Hyper Light Drifter. Lovely. Still early days, will update my impressions next month.
I finished SOMA which was pretty great. If I’d known ahead of time it was from the Annesia guys, I wouldn’t have touched it with a barge pole (let’s face it, Amnesia was terrible).
Really good story, and I believe its only strictly necessary to “laboriously open every drawer/cupboard to get item/read meaningless scrap of paper” once in the starting room in order to progress through the game. That was pretty great 😉
Loved the story and implementation, and well worth playing to the end.
Also playing Hyper Light Drifter, very good in most ways.
Picked up No Man’s Sky. I was hoping for Minecraft in space, but it’s not delivering for me. Maybe, it’s the ‘here’s a 1000 things but you don’t have the space to collect it all.’ And, I can’t build structures. But, it’s coming later, so we’ll see.
Also, started up Dark Souls 3 again. I hope they announce the Dlc for it soon.
Been playing Chivalry: Medieval Warfare with a friend. For such a simple team-based multiplayer combat, it has great physics and a vast weapon array that all feel different, yet feasible.
The first DLC is supposed to be out this Fall, so it should be right around the corner. I think the second one is due in Spring of next year.
Starting up my video of Mega Man X3, plus I went back to Knights of the Old Republic II, now that the mod the restores a lot of the cut content was added to the base install. Also fired up Rebel Galaxy (stopped after about 20 minutes) Superhot (cool but it kind of got old fast) and Sonic 1 (yeah, that’s right).
I really enjoyed Rebel Galaxy; that said, it has a number of handicaps that obscure its playability and you probably have to persevere a little to get past these. And also like the ARPG genre and grinding for upgrades a little.
Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath, EDF 4.1, ROTK13, Stellaris, Tharsis, GTA5. Really enjoying Stellaris. Hate the soundtrack, tho, it’s the usual martial sounding wannabe Hans Zimmer crap. Game is more fun with a Texas Swing soundtrack.
Hey boss! Good to see you’re still in the saddle 😉
I got Stellaris but didn’t have time to get into it. Hopefully later in the year.
The social and species customization is a cool system. Fleet access and research is simple and feels good. The surface infrastructure screen reminds me of M.U.L.E., the star system screen of Star Control II. I’ve played 3 games that ended with me being outgunned 10:1 by an angry enemy fleet. Only strategy I’d recommend is always keep a stash of credits, always invest in larger fleet size, and don’t try to implement every new technology, because the costs leave you broke.
Dark Souls 3, because I have to wait 12 hours to get my hands on No Man’s Sky and try hard to not be disappointed like everyone else…
Dammit. I should have just driven into town to buy the flippin game instead of ordering online!!
Odin Sphere on the PS4. I liked it and will play again for sure. But the wide spread omission by so many of how god damn repetitive the game is across most of its aspects, well, shocking but not surprising. Usual Par for course for the most biased entertainment medium today.
