How would the man who played Indiana Jones feel about playing Naughty Dog's Uncharted 3? Well, naturally he'd be very excited and enjoy playing it very much.
Honestly, the video is a bit awkward. I don't know how handy Ford really is with a PlayStation 3 controller at home, but it doesn't look like he's very good in this video. Maybe it's the camera or the location, but it all looks a bit unnatural. Maybe it doesn't matter. All Sony wanted was to get Indiana Jones playing Nathan Drake from its new video game and it got it.

Of course its just marketing – as such I dont see anything wrong with it. Neither Brendan Fraser nor Nathan Fillion would have been particularly acceptable substitutes since neither is particularly well known here in Japan whereas Ford is. To put this in context, in 2008 only TWO non-Japanese movies made the annual box office top 10 – one was Red Cliff and the other was Indy 4 (yes, The dark Knight didnt make the top 10). Theres a print/poster campaign to go with this video as well – a lot of my local game stores in Akihabara had posters… Read more »
Err, Nathan Fillion?. They could have used him. I didn’t mind Harrison Ford being on it even though I didn’t really care all that much to begin with, oh look, an actor who once played Indiana Jones and he’s playing a game with a protagonist who’s an obvious inspiration from the likes of Indy, oh the mirth. Nathan Fillion would have been the best person to pick, as he is a gamer, he likes Uncharted, he looks like Nathan Drake and he’s playing him (I hope) in the upcoming Uncharted film.
How can you be upset that Harrison Ford, an actor, was used by Sony to sell their upcoming adventurer title? It would seem to be a no-brainer since there isn’t anyone else who would do fit the bill save for maybe Brendan Fraser. 🙂
I don’t think anyone was watching this video and thinking it was anything more than marketing. He is clearly neither a fan of the franchise or a gamer. I think people will see it for what it is.
All I see when I look at this video is an old actor playing a game that he has never played before. He’s looking at the buttons while playing for goodness sake.
But you’re right. Sony got its video footage of Harrison Ford playing as Nathan Drake and is hoping the video goes viral.
