It’s easy to chastise a company like Nintendo for not embracing real voicechat given the appeal of such a feature in the undeniably popular arena of online gaming. But even the family-friendly visage of the Wii would almost immediately be sullied by any combination of the Internet, anonymity and a communications headset. Gamers, or people in general, always seem to devolve to their most base instincts in the online world leaving us with little recourse but to turn off the mic or hide who you really are. Both would seem to defeat the purpose of going into these communities to begin with.
