New images have emerged from the upcoming videogame adaptation: Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li. Starring Smallville's Kristen Kreuk as Chun-Li, it also features Michael Clarke Duncan as Balrog, Neal McDonough as M. Bison, Chris Klein as Charlie Nash, Moon Bloodgood as Detective Maya Sunee, Taboo as Vega among many others.
The Legend of Chun-Li is directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak for 20th Century Fox and is due in theaters on February 27, 2009.

I don’t want to start piling on, but Michael Clarke Duncan as Balrog? This is like the most underwhelming cast ever. 🙂
That said, everything I have read about the movie seems to imply that all involved are really earnest about what they are doing and want to get it right. So who knows? I mean, the original Spider-Man and X-Men movies came out of nowhere and surprised us at how good they could be. Maybe this Street Fighter movie will do the same.
Maybe JCVD will make a surprise appearance. Lord knows you can probably get him cheap.
I have a hard time imagining how this film will not suck. I suppose it’ll probably be better than the last Street Fighter live action film, but is that really saying anything?
