According to ESRB, this game contains: Animated Violence, Mature Sexual Themes, Mild Language
Parents need only see the WWF name to know that there will be plenty of objectionable material in this game. There are obscure gestures and questionable language in the game as always. Everyone gets equal exploitation—be it the scantily clad women or the stereotypical portrayal of minorities and ethnic groups. The women once again get the brunt of the exploitation as they're paraded in skimpy outfits and bikinis in addition to having to take part in such sexist events like Bikini Contests.
Wrestling fans have two choices when it comes to their wrestling fix, but the better choice sits on another console. WWF No Mercy for the Nintendo 64 rises above its PlayStation counterpart thanks to a more enjoyable story/career mode and unparalleled arsenal of moves. Smackdown! 2 sports tighter controls and a quicker pacing. The create-a-player mode is as deep as ever so wrestling couch potatoes can throw themselves into the action with ease. However, we are not the only ones to take issue with the lacking story modes and wait times, so that must be considered before purchase.
Fans of multiplaying gaming will have a blast with Smackdown! 2 thanks to its almost overwhelming selection of venues to take part in. All of the popular—and some of the not-so-popular—matches are in the game, and easy controls make for a fun time with friends.
