For Honor Beta Preview

A few months ago, I played the alpha build of For Honor, Ubisoft’s multiplayer-centric knights-versus-Vikings-versus-samurai dueling game. HIGH Getting out of someone’s apartment just in the nick of time.

LOW Hearing the loudspeaker spewing propaganda for, like, a straight hour.

WTF That English translation.

HIGH The visuals, the dialog, the limitless flying… pretty much everything.

LOW Yep, the final boss is awful.

WTF Unlockable hats… which fall off when Otus gets hit once.

divsin201

One of the best things a videogame can do is send me off with a sense that I’ve had an experience unique to me — that no one else saw exactly what I saw. Divinity: Original Sin is quite possibly my favorite role-playing game of all time because it’s such a pure embodiment of that idea.

Seasons After Fall Review

Spoiler: It’s Winter

seasonsafterfall

HIGH The lovely hand-painted visuals.

LOW Nearly every plot McGuffin being a floating orb of light.

WTF It’s the rare game that acknowledges the impossibility of jumping out of water.

Redout Review

Anti-Gravity, Anti-Boredom

Redout

HIGH Landing a mile-and-a-half jump.

LOW Score Endurance mode is a bit weak.

WTF The extremely sarcastic-sounding announcer.
