AJ’s Top 10 of 2017

2017 is finally over and I am proud to say I’ve survived it. One of the few bright spots has been the sheer number of brilliant titles this year — with standouts in every genre, there’s been something for everyone. The ten games below are the ones that stood out to me (for better or for worse) and people coming to this list might be surprised by the omissions. I must confess that I own neither the PS4 nor the Switch, so bear with me on this one…

Deadcore

It’s A Long Way Down

HIGH Witnessing the breathtaking scale of the last level.

LOW How many times did I die? Oh, there is an achievement for that… Dammit, I suck!

WTF And all of this means…?

Overcooked! Review

3 Michelin Stars

HIGH Delivering a dish with only seconds before the buzzer and getting maximum score.

LOW The moment when things go horribly wrong and I wonder if I’ll be sleeping on the couch.

WTF I am a time travelling chef fighting the forces of evil.

Xbox Live Recommendations For June 27, 2017

Xbox Live recommendations for June 30th 2017

Microsoft is doing a Summer sale (starting on the 30th and ending on the 10th of July), and there are some pretty good ones in there. People have probably already decided whether they want the big sellers like Gears of War and Dark Souls III, so my list focuses primarily on games that I’m guessing most people haven’t checked out, or may not even have heard of. Below is a brief blurb for each, and a link to a review (where possible) that should help with decisions.

Dreamfall: Chapters Review

A Compendium Worth Reading

HIGH Anytime Kian talks about his love of Yams.

LOW Checking the concept art before finishing the game.

WTF Yes, I am reading every one of these Diary entries.
