Winning Eleven 8 is an approachable game for players of all ages, although parents might be understandably concerned that the game could take precedence over any real life sporting activities. If any game has that kind of pulling power, it's this one.

Sports fans who like their games way-out and wacky perhaps ought to think twice also. Konami don't do fantasy football, and whilst the game's smooth looks and intuitive controls can entice just about anyone in for a fun kick about, any dramatic wish fulfilment has to be duly earned with studious application.

Fortunately, Deaf and Hard of Hearing gamers will only miss out on the match commentary, which is as poor as ever. That particular evolution sure is taking its sweet time.
