Lumines II

Game Description: Lumines II is the sequel to popular puzzle-action game. Gamers control squares made of four smaller block pieces that are dropped into the playing field one at a time to form same-color squares. The vertical "timeline" sweeps across the playing field from left to right and wipes the same-color squares from the playing field. Unmatched blocks pile up, and the game ends when the pile gets to the top of the playing screen. Advance through many action-packed levels, each with its own musical theme and sound effects.

Ultimate Ghouls 'N Ghosts – Review

Across its 21-year history, Capcom's Ghosts 'N Goblins series has always elicited an appropriately ghoulish mix of exasperated sighs and lilting murmurs of approval.

Mercury Meltdown – Review

Although the first Mercury on PSP didn't set the world on fire, it was a unique twist on the traditional "rolling puzzle" game with its own unusual charm. I grew to admire the physics of sloshing liquid metal through clever setups, and the abstract aesthetics of its shimmering sheen appealed to the art wonk in me.

Bounty Hounds – Review

The PSP has seen some choice releases lately, and this sudden burst of quality has been a welcome respite from what felt like an eternity of nothing to get excited over. Tekken, Valkyrie Profile, and LocoRoco are all fine titles that PSP owners can be proud of, and Bandai Namco's Bounty Hounds seemed well-suited to join their ranks… but don't let appearances deceive.

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth – Review

It's funny how time can change your perspective on things. When Valkyrie Profile was originally released on the PlayStation way back in 2000, I liked it a lot but took it to task over certain issues and held back a few points on the score. Now that some time has passed and the current game environment is different than it was back then, I find that my affection for the title has only grown.

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth

Game Description: Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth brings the classic PlayStation game console title to your PSP -- with completely new CG cut scenes that dramatize the epic of a Norse maiden collecting souls for a war between the gods. Lenneth is a Valkyrie, a warrior priestess with the gift of hearing the thoughts of dead and dying men in their final moments. Lenneth's duty is to travel Midgard, the mortal world, to recruit and train the souls of worthy warriors to join the ranks of the Aesir in the Sacred War.
