Super Powers

The second Sigma stage isn't nearly as difficult as the first, and is actually fairly boring. We've got two more Maverick rematches and a bizarre boss with Rangda Bangda, but other than that there's very little of note. I do go quiet for long stretches of this video as a result, so I apologize for that. Enjoy!

Still Less Filler Than the Anime

HIGH I can ogle Aizen as much as I want, and nobody can stop me.

Activision hosted a preview at a local hotel near PAX Prime 2011, and my wife and I got a sneak peek at their lineup. On display were Goldeneye 007: Reloaded, Spider-Man: Edge of Time, Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure, X-Men: Destiny (holy cow, that’s a lot of colons…) and Prototype 2. There's not really much to report about most of those titles, or at least, they didn't catch and hold my attention for more than a minute or two. However, Prototype 2 was the one I was most interested in, and thankfully, it looked great.

HIGH Navigating the city is still extremely enjoyable.

LOW Vehicle escort missions still suck.

WTF Evil Cole + Kessler skin = Disturbing cut-scenes.

HIGH: Finally beating a particularly nasty wave of bad guys in the second-to-last level.

LOW: Realizing that the strategy for every single enemy is "warp behind them, then attack."

WTF: The text RPG boss.

FU2 is the Most Appropriate Acronym Ever

HIGH: Using a Jedi mind trick to get a stormtrooper to commit suicide.

LOW: Everything else.

WTF: You know what this level needs? More walkers.

Publishers should take a page from LucasArts. The best way to sell your preposterous video game might be to put away the expensive pyrotechnic effects, shaky-cam footage and orchestral score and just go for laughs.

I freely admit that I've got next to no experience with MMOs. I rarely play games on the PC, and my schedule is so busy and erratic that trying to coordinate with other people is next to impossible. As a result, I had only cursory knowledge of what DC Universe Online had to offer. However, after the thorough walkthrough provided by one of the game's developers, I'd be more than willing to give this one a shot.

The Half-Hearted Dracula

HIGH The combat system once all the moves are unlocked.

LOW The first several hours.

WTF Gabriel Belmont's neck is bigger than his head.

Swinging Four Ways

HIGH Dragging a gunsel into the shadows and webbing them to a wall in a single, effortless motion.

LOW Being unable to tell an enemy from a wall in 2099.

WTF Wait... he ate Uncle Ben? Ick.
