Game Description: Red Dead Redemption is an open-world, third-person, action-adventure game set at the tail end of the American West West era. Action takes place in the first few years of the twentieth century and revolves around the choices that the protagonist, former outlaw John Marston, is forced to make due to his blemished past. The game features a morality system assigning honor and fame points generated through the player's choices. It also features Wild West themed mini-games, new targeting and cover systems, extensive horse riding abilities, a wealth of period specific weapons and more than 40 huntable animals.

A Nice Place to Visit, but...

HIGH Insane chopper-to-chopper grappling hook action.

LOW The sheer number of missions to finish before credits roll.

WTF Falling 10,000 feet and grappling towards the ground for safety.

Black and White and Red All Over

HIGH Blowing an entire Nazi base sky-high in the space of a few seconds.

LOW Any time you try to escape an alarm in a car.

WTF They can blow up heavily armored tanks, so why don't my explosives damage buildings?

It had the Chrome but Not the Polish

HIGH Crashing a flaming zeppelin into the enemy stage at the end of a long battle.

LOW The aforementioned long battle.

WTF Pardon me, but I think about a third of the story has gone missing.

Tim Schafer is a brilliant guy and I have tons of respect for him, but he's just been off lately. I don't care what anybody says, Psychonauts was a big bag of fail to me, and although Brütal Legend is better, it's still not anywhere near what it could've been. In fact, I'm not even really sure what it is.

Sometimes Even An Umlaut Isn't Enough
