Metroid Fusion Second Opinion

Metroid Fusion Screenshot Metroid Fusion Screenshot

The greatest fault I can attribute to Fusion isn't its restrictive form, but its overly predictable progression. I've never played any previous Metroids extensively and I could still sense where the game was taking me a mile away. Fusion doesn't put much effort into disguising its gameplay devices.

The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past – Review

With his book The Hero With A Thousand Faces, Joseph Campbell created a sort of guide by which just about every myth, legend, or story could be rationalized and even certain patterns among them could be revealed. Almost everything ranging from Homer's The Odyssey to George Lucas' moneymaking machine Star Wars to J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord Of The Rings would, when broken down, most likely expose common elements that would transcend the cultural barriers separating them.

Car Battler Joe

Game Description: As the son of a famous car battler, Joe Todoroki has all the ambition and natural ability to become a master of mechanical mayhem. Early on, Joe may not have much experience or firepower, but gains both as he takes on new jobs and gussies up his garage. Once your preparations are complete you can accept one of several jobs posted at a local shop. The real action begins when moving from town to town. The motorized melees takes place on a rotating plane that showcases the processing prowess of the Game Boy Advance. Out in the wastelands, you will encounter gun-toting enemies who will test the durability and firepower of your ride.

Car Battler Joe – Review

A player can never know for sure if they will like the title until they're playing it. There's joy in knowing money was well spent on a good game and inversely, disappointment in having wasted time with a lemon. In sticking with the gambling metaphor, Car Battler Joe, a Game Boy Advance release from Natsume, is the casino equivalent of putting a quarter in the slot machine and winning a million dollars.

Mega Man Zero – Review

The story in Mega Man Zero unfolds with good grammar and correct spelling, but the scrolling text also illustrates that grammar and spelling are not the only considerations when it comes to translations. To state the obvious: there are cultural differences to consider. At this point I am tempted to go about things in the most politically correct fashion possible, trying to legitimize both eastern and western viewpoints, but that wouldn't reflect the way I feel.

Super Street Fighter II Turbo: Revival – Review

Nostalgia isn't something that you can feel unless enough time passes, and now that I am a bit older, I can feel nostalgia creeping up on me. It seems that others are aware of the creeping as well, because lately, I can't help but find all sorts artifacts from my childhood suddenly showing up for sale. Transformers are back; He-Man is back; and even Scooby Doo is back. With regards to Scooby, I actually had a terrible suspicion that it would be a bad movie even before watching. However, for the sake of nostalgia, I was willing to give it a chance. Sadly, not only were my suspicions confirmed, I was also denied a trip down memory lane. The main characters resembled more like caricatures out of popular teen movies instead of what I remembered from the original cartoon. I understand that an update of sorts might be necessary, but by changing the characters, the essence of the original cartoon was lost, along with any nostalgia I might have felt for it.
