Re: Post here when you beat a game. I mean it!

actually finished Mario 64 DS. Y'know, getting all 150 stars. Dude, I was so hoping Princess Peach was going ot be a hidden playable character behind that white door. Noooo, a damn star is all it was. And the reward for getting all the stars pretty much sucks. As in, there isn't one, unless you consider 3 free lives a reward. It doesn't matter though I guess, because getting the stars was pretty fun. I wish they had kept the "mega triple jump" though. I've never seen it in action, and probably never will now.

Now I've got all the stars and I've opened the eternal levels. I guess that's a better "beating" of Katamai Damacy.

What spoilers? The part about nothing happening? Or the part about there being no rewards whatsoever?

Re: Post here when you beat a game. I mean it!

Last night, I finished Mega Man Se7en. While I appreciated the gorgeous 16-bit graphics, and the plentiful homages to the previous games, this game was too "Mega Man X"-ish for my tastes. All the hidden areas, item-searching, eh, not my cup of tea. And the final, final boss? Great Caesar's Ghost! Ridiculously difficult.

Edited to Add:

Since I hate to double-post, I'll just add that I've finished Mega Man Ate and with it, the entire Mega Man Anniversary Collection. Certainly the most difficult part of the entire disc was staying awake through the awful anime episode I unlocked.

My major SWG achievement is a few days away, so in the meantime, I think I'll try to finish up Ico.

Beat Zelda: Link to the Past. I finished in two days. It was something like this.

DAY 1: Turn on game, 1st and 2nd dungeons
DAY 2: Everything else

It's amazing how short the game is when you know what you're doing. It couldn't have taken me longer than 4-5 hours altogether. And putting holes in the final battle with Ganon? Stupid.

Re: Post here when you beat a game. I mean it!

I haven't ever posted in this thread, so I better start

Burnout 3
I just got all the gold medals in crash mode, the crash levels get really repetitive and they are far too many, but after getting number 60 or so, I was so well-practiced in the "art of crash" that the last 40 were pretty easy to get.

Animal Crossing
I just got my second expansion on my house and have even more debt to pay off, I simply love playing this game

Just completed my semi-annual romp of Super Metroid. I still adore that game.

Next up, my semi-annual romp through SotN.

Re: Post here when you beat a game. I mean it!

I finally did it. I finally got 100 points on every level in Yoshi's Island! I did it on the GBA - so that includes the new levels too.

(Oh, and YI has to be the best platformer ever. Just keeping you informed.)

Beat Ape Escape 2. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I initially loathed it. The music, art direction and charm of the original had all been replaced with something that wasn't as good as in the first. This pretty much neutered my ability to enjoy it. But then these feelings passed and I'm kinda liking it now (getting the last few straggling monkeys) but not nearly as much as I did Ape Escape.

Just finished up Mercenaries! Getting the last Ace was a pain in the ass ten times over. I breathed a heavy sigh of relief that I wouldn't have to play that part, ever, ever, again. Not quite the feeling I wanted to end the game with, considering how much fun I had with it overall.

Re: Post here when you beat a game. I mean it!

I finished Gabriel Knight 2: The Beast Within earlier today. It was okay... but it wasn't nearly as satisfying as the first Gabriel Knight. Its biggest problem is that it didn't really have any exceptional puzzles (ones that are challenging but logical, and which don't feel contrived), and it had quite a few really bad ones. Also, it used grainy full motion video throughout the entire game, which is far from being my favorite design direction. Still, it had a quality story and the characters were interesting. I'm still looking forward to the third (and final?) game in the series, which I'll probably start sometime tomorrow.

Everything is pointing at a June 1st release for Zelda so far. My fingers are crossed.

As for your comments about Mercenaries, I can understand that point of view coming from people playing games like Ghost Recon 2 and Call of Duty, but despite the fact that the games you mentioned are all centered around battle, I wouldn't think Advance Wars and Starfox would really burn you out on "war games". Especially since those two and Mercenaries are each incredibly different from one another.

Personally, I'd be more apt to hold off on Mercenaries if I just got done playing GTA:San Andreas and Freedom Fighters. But that's just me.

Woot! A Gabriel Knight fan! The third game (which I never quite finished myself) is much closer in tone, style, and gameplay to the first game. Certainly the return of Tim Curry as the voice of Gabriel Knight is a big part of that. There is one puzzle near the beginning that is completely out of left field (you'll know it when you look up the solution in a FAQ...no sane individual would ever deduce it on their own) but for the most part it progresses very logically. It's the last great Sierra adventure.

Does this mean you're not involved with the guide this time around, Enduro?
