I think that's at least partly due to the animation style. But yeah, most levels are designed sparse: left to right, with a few things to jump over in between. And enemies spawning everytime you clear out a section? Ewww. Doesn't speak highly of the design in general.

Just beat Viewtiful Joe 2 today. Less gouge-out-eyes difficulty and more game balancing = more fun. Unfortunately, the boss fights pale in comparison to the original, and it really doesn't help that the game is littered with them. Viewtiful Joe 2 is at it's best when you're ripping through hordes of baddies using your groovy skills; it's fun playing through the same levels over and over again using different moves and comboes. Of course, it's all exactly the same as the first, but who cares?

Oh, and Sylvia sucks. Really really sucks. The story is also less amusing than the first. The tongue-in-cheek campiness is still in full force, just not as well written. Some puzzles are also a bit too random, to the point where they seriously break up the action and just rack up frustration. There's also apparently no secret characters. Oh well.

I had more fun with VJoe 2 than the first, but that's really only because the game is easier overall. In comparison, the original feels like the real deal.

Beat Metroid Prime Echoes (for review).

The ending was somewhat underwhelming to me.

Preview of the review! Here's my guess: an unenthusiastic 8 out of 10?

If you just like the brawling aspect, be sure to give the 36 Chambers a try. They're a blast, and some of them can be pretty tough. 36 Chambers, IMO, definitely bumps up the overall value of the game.

Are you making fun of my scoring, or reading me accurately?

Most of the game is very good, but there are a few things I had issues with. But overall, they didn't ruin the game for me -- despite some literal teeth-grinding at a couple of points!

Heh.

Finally beat KOTOR. I've had it for PC for over a year and after getting started a few times but never quite getting into it, finally got off of Taris and really got into it. Fun game, looking forward to the second coming out in Feb.

As part of my N64 nostaliga trip I just finished Ocarina of Time This is probably the 4th time I've passed it and I STILL can't be bothered to find all the heart pieces and golden skulltullas. I doubt I ever will get around to doing that.

Next Up: You guessed it... Majora's Mask.

I'm currently playing through the game on v-rated, which is entertaining enough in it's own right. More games should switch up enemies on higher difficulty levels, instead of just upping the baddies' vital stats. I'm not too sure about the 36 Chambers. As it is, I'm surprised I'm even playing through the game again, usually I need a reward to beat a game more than once or even take a look at the extras. Why oh why aren't there secret characters?

Just finished Mega Man the First as part of the Mega Man Anniversary Collection. And no "easy mode" or "five lives" for me. I manned up and kicked it old school. I was shocked by how much I remembered.

Wario Ware, Inc. Mega Microgame$!

I just went through it over three or so nights. What a blast. I can't believe I went this long without picking it up. I guess now that the holiday season is over, I can finally catch up on those games I missed.

Re: Post here when you beat a game. I mean it!

Mega Man II. Hard mode.

I promise not to post everytime I clear a game from the Anniversary Collection. Actually, at the rate I'm ripping through the third game, I'll probably be able to finish two or three more of the games before I'm back at the keyboard.

Really, I'm just rushing (no pun intended) through these first four to get to the ones I never played (5-8 and whatever the bonus games are). Once I hit Mega Man 5, I will savour the NES-style sights and sounds in all their glory.

Re: Post here when you beat a game. I mean it!

I have beaten Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: Pc version: Light Side: Combat-intensive character: Melee expert: Force Persuasion only vice.

I picked this up in March, tried it out, only to have it eat my saved game, even with the latest patch. Nine months later, the frustration had worn off, so I tried it again, and enjoyed it immensely. If I were a robot (and for all you know, I MIGHT BE), I'd ask HK-47 to have my robot children. Then I'd ask him to blast them.

I have picked up Knights II, and will play it unceasingly starting Dec. 25, because A) It's been a long time since I enjoyed an rpg as much as Kotor; and B) because I hear you can ask HK-47 something along the following: "Do you know... what love is?"
This marks the entry of gaming into the art realm, friends and neighbors (whom are also friends.)

Also, I beat Castlevania for the NES again, 18 years after the first time. Ah, those creatures from the black lagoon, what (wet) dreams you've been responsible for...
