Re: Post here when you beat a game. I mean it!
finally finished alien vs predator a couple nights ago. with the colonial marine. what a lame ass end-boss fight.: ::
for some reason when i completed the game, it crashed and just went back to windows. I didnt even get to see the ending. when i reloaded the game, my save data mustve been corrupted because there was some strange little "not used" tag over save name. fo sho when i tried to load the save profile the shit didnt work. the strange thing is, i can still load the individual level saves i made while using the profile. when i load one and complete a level, the game just defaults to the main menu. now i have to complete all my predator and alien levels over again and complete the marines over again if i want to see the ending.
other than the ridiculous final fight with the alien queen,(who grows so tired of your circle-strafing tactics that she resorts to cardboard box throwing) i really liked this game overall. very fun, fast-paced, and tense. i plan on trying the sequel when im done. this game is highly recommended for a thriller fps experience.

Beat "Street Fighter 3: Third Strike".
Apart from some brief time with earlier versions of SF2, which I didn't like too much, this is my first contact with the new Street Fighter. I have grown to like it quite a bit. It's different, but still familiar. Still getting used to parrying.
And while I still suck at SF3 -- and, surprisingly, really suck at SF2 Hyper Turbo Extra Edition (I don't remember being this bad on the SNES?) -- I did manage to beat it. Gill is a major pain in the ass, though.

Re: Post here when you beat a game. I mean it!
Finished Ratchet and Clank :Going Commando. Brilliant, brilliant game. There are only two things that are a step down from the first, and that's the music and the jokes, but other than that, the game is a blast to play (pun intended) and on par with the first.
Not to mention, I didn't even stratch its surface. A new Challenge mode opened up and it boasts a hard, yet rewarding system for bolt-collecting. The baddies are furious, you get to keep your suped up weapons, and you can go after the big guns like the RYNO ver. 2. It's silly, I know, but now I feel like going back and playing through it again.
One thing though. The final boss battle was crap. It was too easy and I didn't even realise I was seeing the ending until the credits started rolling. I think they should have hyped it up a little more, build up the tension before the battle and make us *know* it was the final one. And the ending, by any standard, was just abrupt.
Tomorrow I'm tackling Phantom Brave. I'm two hours in and it's all starting to get more enticing.

Re: Post here when you beat a game. I mean it!
Allright, I get to post in my own thread again.
I finally beat Culdcept yesterday. Sweet game. The final battle was interesting, but I didn't really have a problem with it. I read a spoiler about the last battle so I prepared myself accordingly.
I'm still playing Culdcept, although I should move on to my next game, Tales of Symphonia.
Okay, off to update my list in the other thread.

I just beat Command & Conquer: Renegade. I also beat the soviet campaign for Red Alert, and I am working on Tiberian Sun.

Re: Post here when you beat a game. I mean it!
Phantom Brave owns. But Psyvariar, played during the breaks, is even sweeter.
I've just finished my first runs and, for those of you you don't know, Psyvariar is a vertical shooter that got ported to the PS2. I'm playing the full Complete Edition, which features some more extras than the original. It's standard shmup goodness, but the Buzz system makes a hell of a difference. Basically, you're rewarded whenever enemy bullets miss you by inches or scratches you. When they do, you level up, so there's an incentive to live in the edge. Try and do it often, and you'll probably blow up. It's just too addictive!
Between this and Ikaruga, I'll have to review my stance on shmup games. I thought I didn't like them, but it appears that's changing.

No, we got a PAL version. There's a japanese version circulating around as well, but it's madly expensive. Check Ebay or some other import stores. I did a quick run and found a couple of sellers in the UK selling it at Amazon price. You'll need a way to run imports on your PS2, though.
Hah. Europe getting games North America doesn't. The world is upside down.

Well Europe has a history of getting the shooters while the US gets the RPGs. With the exception of Terranigma, damn them.

Re: Post here when you beat a game. I mean it!
I've beaten Viewtiful Joe, after having it for quite some time. I could never really get into it for some reason when I tried, but just recently it really grabbed me. Sweet ass game, and not as hard as people say . I kind of want to get the PS2 version now, just for the extras, but I dunno...
EDIT: Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, but it seems to me the game had some balance issues. Mach Speed was far far far less useful than the other two VFX abilities. The only times I used it was when the game forced me to (puzzles, Fire Leo, etc.), or when I wanted to hit those boxes in the background. Not to mention simply running around in Mach Speed could easily do more harm than good. Here's hoping they tweak it a bit in the next one.

Re: Post here when you beat a game. I mean it!
I recently got through Metroid Prime .. quite a good game, though at a couple places things seemed a little too cryptic. Still pretty short on the collection %s though - finished with 68 or so.
