Re: Spain in the ass

The reign of Spain is over. The World Cup has defiantly been entertaining so far.

Re: Spain in the ass

Farid is another Dutchman?

Can we all agree that Robben is the most annoying footballer ever? It's like he was created in a lab for that express purpose.

Looking forward to England Uruguay this evening

Well England were frustratingly rubbish, as usual.

Re: Spain in the ass

I was pretty happy when I realized that the US did better than Spain, Italy, and England... Then I realized that Bosnia, Ivory Coast, Croatia, Greece, and a list of others have all done better than Spain, Italy, and England...

Re: Spain in the ass

The USA are a good team. They usually qualify for the WC and once there they outplay their talent level. I hope they do well, and they have a good chance of beating Belgium who have flattered to deceive so far.

Brazil were lucky Chile started playing for the draw at about the 70 minute mark

Re: Spain in the ass

I wish the US would have played a more attacking role yesterday against Belgium. I thought Klinsmann would change things up a bit for this game. At least we went out fighting.

I am expecting a lot out of our young players in 2018. I am just wondering who is going to fill the shoes of our keeper, Tim Howard.

Re: Spain in the ass

Someone will emerge. It's not that hard finding a keeper if the defence is decent

The two QFs so far have been pretty underwhelming. I've been more or less done with football this last couple of years and I'm not seeing anything that really makes me change my mind.

The Dutch are surely the fan favourites now? I am cheering for Costa Rica and (begrudgingly) Belgium

Germany 23/10
Argentina 4/1
Belgium 12/1
Brazil 12/5
Holland 9/2
Costa Rica 50/1

Re: Spain in the ass

Well Costa Rica did nothing but defend this match, hoping to steal the game with penalties.

They forgot about Louis van Gaal though, and the master tactician did something no coach did before, changed the keeper, brought in Krul and gave the match to its rigthfull victor Holland.

There is now a saying in the Netherlands (invented by Robben) which is that coach Louis van Gaal has a golden cock.

We've now defeated:

Spain
Chili
Mexico
Costa Rica

and next match Argentina.

Not a good year to be living in a spanish language country.

Re: Spain in the ass

Latest odds

Brazil 13/5
Germany 13/5
Argentina 5/2
Holland 7/2

Very surprised to see the Netherlands taking up the rear there, as they are obviously the best team left in the tournament (although they have had fairly easy opposition so far )

I enjoyed the Costa Rica game last night, and kudos to Van Gaal. On purely an entertainment level I hope they win (unless they turn into that team of foulers from the last final they were in of course).

Germany v Holland would be the ideal final.

Re: Spain in the ass

Who else witnessed the complete annihilation of the national team of Brazil yesterday? I wasn't sure if I was having some kind of weird dream I haven't woken up from. I am supporting the German team this world cup so I'm happy that they beat Brazil, but the way this game was going... that was not a match, that was an execution...

Re: Spain in the ass

Glad to see Brazil get eliminated, they were stinking up the whole tournament. Retribution was sweet.

Holland should be too strong for Argentina this evening but anything could happen. Enjoying it now, and a Germany v Netherlands final has a lot of potential

Re: Spain in the ass

Anything happened

Well, not much happened during the game though... I was going back to do some practice laps in Assetto Corsa occasionally, feel I didn't miss much. Messi didn't shine, Holland played as if they are waiting for the penalties, but no Krul this time and they got kicked out.

I was not expecting Argentina to reach the final. Then again, it's usually the underwhelming looking teams that get the furthest. If Löw is not doing something weird tactics-wise this final should be for Bayern München to take. I mean for Germany to take. They know how to play as team, which makes them more resilient. Argentina stands and falls with Messi. Take out any individual in the German team, they still play brilliant. Take out Messi, the rest of the team would falter.

To paraphrase from the movie Patton I saw recently on Netflix: "This whole individuality stuff is a whole load of horsedung."

Re: Spain in the ass

What I was think the entire Germany - Brazil match:

Brazil played like kids in a park the entire tournament.

The final should be easy for Germany. Not as easy as Brazil, but easy.

Where is LordFarid? :P

Arg v Ned was a bit of a downer alright; not too bad though, I enjoyed the tactical battle and didn't mind who went through in the end. The final will be interesting.
