Vet> Yikes!
Just finished Prototype. the first 3 hours or so are incredibly fun, but the game takes a total nosedive past the halfway point. it gets really, really crappy before the show is over.
working on a review now.

I decided to buy a portable HDD, so I can backup my save files. I'll eventually get a 120gig laptop HDD, to replace my suspect 60gig.
I'm really bummed about having to play through RE5 again, without any of the extras. I guess I can use that as motivation to complete the game (and be a trophy whore) on a harder setting.

I've yet to play InFamous, but I plan to soon. Prototype appears to be quite simular in playstyle.

Re: Post here when you beat a game. I mean it!
Just finished Valkyria Chronicles moments before my TV was shooped out the door.
It was an awesome game on a lot of levels that was unfortunately mired down in your typical anime-inspired BS that only infuriates me more every time I'm exposed to it.
But it was still awesome. And are my eyes playing tricks on me or is there no proper VC review on the site? This is madness!

Yeah, VC rocks hard. I meant to review it but got sidetracked when my son was born and it just kept getting placed further and further down on the to-do list... i'm madly overcommited as it is, so i'm stepping aside and IIRC our great new guy Richard is taking it on. Look for that review in the near future.

Just beat Super Mario Galaxy for the first time. I think it is well made with interesting levels, quality boss design, and so many great power-ups. However, my wrist hurts from collecting the bare minimum amount of stars. I wish Mario still punched and the motion controls were used more sparingly.

Not sure it qualifies as "beating" the game, but I have achieved 500 stars in Bonsai Barber. I found Bonsai Barber to be a breath of fresh air. The game has a lot going for it, and very little going against it. I highly recommend this title, especially at only $10.

Can you give us a rundown on what it plays like? i've seen it but really have no clue what it's about.

Re: Post here when you beat a game. I mean it!
Brad, I will assume you are talking about Bonsai Barber. If not, everyone just consider it a gift!
The whole objective of the game is to cut and style the "hair" of plants. There are given outlines and you are trying to reach the 5-star status on each style by cutting, trimming, and painting the leaves of different plant creatures. Each character has different attributes to their hair that makes each unique.
Nothing is stopping you from cutting your own unique style or just messing around. My girlfriend's mom spent about 15 minutes chopping different styles, trying to cut off tongues, and snipping at a bird's wings.
All control is done with the Wii-mote which is used mostly as a pointer, with button pressing to select the different tools and then having said tool operate (snip, snip).
I am considering posting a review within the week, so I won't say much more than that for now. Hope it helps.

Re: Post here when you beat a game. I mean it!
I finally finished Drakengard 2 many years after I had originally intended to do so.
I wasn't missing out on anything. It's just Drakengard with mildly better gameplay and minus pretty much everything that made the original great (and for the record, yes, I do think the original Drakengard was great belive it or not).
I think I might write up a review for it too. Not because I'm suddenly super serous about reviewing, but because reviewing seems to be pretty good brain exercise.

Finished Magic: the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers on Live.
It's a good starting place for newcomers to the game, and the puzzle mode was lots of fun. Thumbs up, though it's not going to be very satisfying to OG Magic folks.

Re: Post here when you beat a game. I mean it!
Finished Halo for the very first time yesterday. Yes, that's right, the original Halo: Combat Evolved. I'd never played it before a week ago. Hoping to do a "Games We Finally Got Around to Playing" segment for an upcoming podcast; there's a lot to talk about here.
Next up: Bionic Commando (2009) thanks to the $20 Gamestop deal. About an hour in; early impressions are mixed.

I wouldn't even spend $20 on Bionic Commando (2009). I had a 5 day rental and spent only one or 2 hors with it.

Re: Post here when you beat a game. I mean it!
Been a while.
Thinking....
I have been all over Fallout 3. A defining game of this generation.
Full gamerscore in Civilization Revolution. I come back to it once every few weeks. It's my Heroes of Might and Magic 3 for the 360.
Speaking of A Kingdom for Kelflings, I too have beat it, but I have not been back to it since. Maybe someday.
Dead Space and Fable 2 down as well. Both great games in their own right.
RE5 was good, but quite a letdown after RE4. My expectations were just too high I suppose. Still good fun however.
I've been very happy with gaming over the past year or two. It just keeps getting better.
