Re: Post here when you beat a game. I mean it!
I finished Braid on XBLA last night. I have to say, I definitely see what all the fuss was about - definitely one of the more unique platformers I've played in a long time! Not sure I understood the ending, though... maybe I beat it wrong... haha!

I finished RE5 on the 360. Great game, though I could do without the fast action buttons. The final boss fight dragged on and on too. I played it on system link with a friend and currently working my way through the game by myself.

Also just finished RE5... review's done, should be up shortly. played co-op with my wife over Live for the whole campaign. disappointed there were no Achievements for doing so. = P
Also just finished Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure for DS. an excellent, excellent title, i definitely recommend it for anyone looking to get a quality DS platform experience. ignore the fact that EA published it, it's really, really good.

Re: Post here when you beat a game. I mean it!
I just finished Braid, which was recently released on the PC. Pretty great game overall. I loved the art style and music. And the music is affected by your time manipulations, which is really neat. A lot of the puzzles were really clever, and all of the solutions felt pretty elegant, once I finally figured them out.
My one complaint is that I got stuck a few times when my initial solutions looked like they'd would work out, if only I was a little faster or more precise. I think I wasted about an hour total stubbornly trying to do various things the wrong way, and then feeling embarrassed when I realized the actual solutions were much simpler. It's my own fault, obviously, but I wish the game had done a better job of steering me away from these dead ends. There were many cases when I was a pixel or two away from making a jump or grabbing a puzzle piece, but I just couldn't quite make it all the way there. And the rewind mechanic makes trying again and again doable.
Anyway, if anyone else plays this game (and you definitely should), you should trust the puzzle designers. The solutions are all very elegant, even if they don't seem like it at first.

Finished Condemned 2 on 360. Steaming pile, review on the way.
also just quit Resistance: Retribution on PSP. Sony Bend did the best they could with the license, but Resistance just sucks to start with. Their Syphon Filter PSP games were far more interesting.

Re: Post here when you beat a game. I mean it!
I finished Infinite Undiscovery on the X360 the other day. It was a fun game, albeit a little cheesy at times (think 'Star Ocean lite'), and ended up at right about the right length. The high points of the game were definitely its item creation system - which was super deep, and thanks to a couple downloadable patches via Live super accessible - and the handful of multiple party battles sprinkled here and there. The pitfalls were the incredibly irritating vermification system and the seemingly underdeveloped connect action system (maybe I missed the boat on it, but I thought overall it felt kinda tacked on). The story was decent. The music and graphics were great! Voice acting was stupid... that's it in a nutshell, I guess! Seriously, 'Star Ocean lite' really sums it up!
Not sure what I'm gonna play next. I think maybe I'll finally get around to playing through Overlord! Or something of that nature...
PS - Prinny on the PSP is still kicking my butt big time. I don't know if I have the resolve to finish it... talk about a hardcore freakin' platformer!

I dunno if i'd call Prinny really hardcore.. it seems more rough and unpolished than anything. I quit it after a few hours out of sheer irritation.

Just beat Aquaria. Review will be up soon, but in short it's a definite winner if you liked old-school 2D platformers like Super Metroid.

System requirements aren't that bad:
1.6 Ghz processor
256 mb RAM
mid-range video card
200 mb hard drive space
I was able to use an old controller with it but an Xbox 360 controller will also work.

Hm, interesting. it wasn't the specs deterring me, it was the method of control.. hate using a mouse for anything. a 360 pad on the other hand...

Re: Post here when you beat a game. I mean it!
Finished Mirror's Edge yesterday.
I'd pretty much agree with what everyone's said about the combat. Breakdown has been coming up a lot for me lately, but it convinced me that if you're going to have the primary mode of combat in your first-person game be hand-to-hand, you need to put effort into it. A three punch combo and a couple kicks absolutely does not cut it.
Fortunately, I found all but one enemy encounter easy enough to hop, skip, and jump around, so it really didn't get on my nerves until that section of the final stage.
And the ending is another on the pile of games with stupid, abrupt, unsatisfying, money-grubbing endings that I'm really getting sick of these days. It's not even really an ending. Essentially nothing in the story of the game is resolved, or even affected, by the end of the game. These kind of endings need to go.
I enjoyed the game overall though. My brother kept complaining that I made the game "boring" by racing through stages so fast via seemingly "wrong" routes that he had never discovered, and I thought it was kind of awesome that two people playing the same game at different times (with runner vision turned off, mind) could have such totally different experiences.

Just finished Uncharted: Drake's Fortune on PS3.
if there was ever a game that overdid it with too much gunplay where it's not welcome, this is it.
Also, there wasn't a speck of originality in the entire thing.
This game rates an 88 on MetaCritic? Please.

Yeah, I've been told I use the word 'hardcore' a bit lightly. So perhaps 'punishing' would be a better word!
That said, I finished it today. Prinny, that is. I don't know if I liked it, either. I loved the visuals. I loved the music. And I have to admit that some of the 'pattern recognition' type challenges littered throughout the game's 10 or so stages really kept me on my toes. But that said, the game really did far more to piss me off than it did to make me feel like I was having fun! Even the game's ending was a bit of a slap in the face! I've seen DLC on PSN for this one, too. Who in their right mind would come out of this trainwreck of a cockbite and say, "I think I'll fork over even more money to go back in for more!" It was devilishly difficult. But it's over now... *sigh*
I recommend this one only for diehard fans of the main series. And only because it's a neat collector's piece (my copy came with an OST, which is actually really great)! Otherwise, you'd do well to stay away!
