Took the plunge with Minecraft. Felt kinda funny paying for (what the creators describe as) a beta version of the game, but it's cheaper than the final version will be so I felt it was fair.

I really enjoyed Terraria, which has been described as a 2D version of Minecraft. I think I prefer Minecraft overall; it's got less "traditional" gameplay elements in it, but overall, whilst the Metroidvania-style action in Terraria is great fun, for pure creation MC has the edge. Love it so far.
