Great review Brandon, and that closing line is pretty impressive.
I'd second the recommendation to drop second person, and I think you could condense paragraph 10 down to just a couple lines in order to cut down on the length.
Otherwise I enjoyed it, and on a personal level I found this review to be much more helpful (since I was still hoping against hope) than the majority of Dark Void critiques I've seen so far.
