Re: How many PS2s have you gone through?

Launch-day PS2 working fine, even with flip-top mod for playing homebrew. The one trouble I have had is with a dirty lens, and happily the flip-top mod makes that a breeze to clean.

On the other...

Re: Ahoy

Ob is short for obligatory. Originating, as I recall, on USENET, it is an acknowledgment by the author that the main point was not on-topic and therefore a token on-topic comment should be made.

Re: The DS, two years later

I remember playing certain typing tutor games as games. It's just like getting a high score on an arcade game, only different. This was on the Commodore 64, so very long ago.

Re: The DS, two years later

Just got a DS. Enjoying Dawn of Sorrow, but it truly appears to be GBA material taking advantage of the better DS hardware. Also enjoyed Zoo Keeper, which benefits from the stylus, but is still the...

Re: The Greatest Bond Movie Ever.

But does it move the genre forward? If not, if it's just doing stuff that previous movies have done, it will have to be docked at least a half-star or a full point, depending on your grading scale.

Re: Three Recent Surprises

Actually I wasn't aware that MGS2 was a fiasco on the Xbox. (This is not sarcasm.) Could you elaborate for me?

Re: Konami blazes a trail on PSP...

I'll happily admit the artwork was quite good. Searching for memories has to be something you want to do, and I found almost no enjoyment in that process. So, no, the depth wasn't depth to me,...

Re: Konami blazes a trail on PSP...

I tried, really, to get into the MGS : DGN. I found it boring with an abstruse interface. It's the same story as MGS, told in a less engaging medium. In short, a waste of my time.

Re: XBox announcements + marketplace content

BioShock exclusivity bothers me a bit. I'd hoped that the "next-generation consoles" they recently said they'd support (in addition to Xbox 360, which was known) meant I could play this game outside...

Re: Whats your first computer & operating system?

Reminds me of the first laptop I owned. It was a Compaq Armada 1750 (Pentium ][ 400MHz, 192Mb RAM, 8Gb HDD), on which I ran Gentoo (GNU/Linux). What a great little laptop.

I'd still be using it...

Re: New Review Posted: Tekken: Dark Ressurection

Not to diminish what the programmers of TDR accomplished, but some of the load-time problems have been alleviated by what developers are permitted to do with the system. Some of it may be wizardry on...

Re: Is you could kill a franchise, which would it be?

You didn't have to worry about being too quick. I had Castlevania covered back at post #16.

Re: Is you could kill a franchise, which would it be?

The example I'm about to give demonstrates to me how just the populations and interactions in GTA border on some surprisingly complex systems.

In Vice City I encountered a situation where I had...
