Re: Mass Effect 3

Not for ME3 as far as I'm aware of, but I'm generally pretty ignorant of these things.

Just had a shot at the demo. It was pretty boring. I didn't even finish it and have no urge to return. But I...

Re: Mass Effect 3

I downloaded the demo yesterday just to see if ME3 would work on my laptop (it does, yay!). I'm not sure if I actually want to play it though or just wait until the full game comes out. I've never...

Re: Final Fantasy XIII

I thought FF12 was a pretty good evolution of the series. It brought a lot of new stuff to the table. Funnily enough, it's one of the least popular Final Fantasy in the series.

Re: Revealed at E3 2010

I haven't had a chance to scour everything but the games that have tickled me most have been the 2D platformers: Kirby, Donkey Kong and Rayman look like a lot of fun, with kirby and rayman in...

Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2 looks so laaaame

Even though it's healthy to be sceptical of a game that gets high accolades, 10s from gamespot, IGN and Edge are still rare, so maybe there is something to this game that the various trailers have...

Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2 looks so laaaame

I loved Super Mario Galaxy, I thought it was the best thing Nintendo put out since Ocarina of Time. It's magical and fun and imaginative.

But what I've seen of the sequel so far seems a little (or...

Re: Final Fantasy XIII

You're right, FFXIII is what the series has been heading towards since it made its 3D debut (perhaps even before then!). It's just a particular kind of design that I can't get into.

Re: Final Fantasy XIII

For me, FFXIII's linearity (and this is the case for FFX also) is so confining that I don't feel I have any agency. I feel like I'm watching a movie that requires me to press the X button to proceed....

Re: Final Fantasy XIII

I'm feeling the same way. I've tried really hard to get into it, but there's no variation to the gameplay. And what gameplay is there is not great. I'm five hours in and the battle system is really...

Re: Best Side-Scrolling Mario

How do you think it stands, in terms of general quality, in comparison with the other Mario side-scrollers?

I played a bit more the other day, but was unimpressed upon discovering that the second...

Re: 2009 Best and Worst Movies

Has anyone seen The Lovely Bones? Although it pains me to say it, that film is one of the worst of last year. I'm a big fan of Peter Jackson, but this was a complete disappointment. I was astonished...

Re: Post here when you beat a game. I mean it!

Finished Mass Effect. Loved the story. Loved the characters. Loved the conversation system. Loved the choices presented to the player. Combat was fun. The finale was epic, cool and exciting.

The...

Re: Best Side-Scrolling Mario

I played a little bit of New Super Mario Bros. Wii the other day and was pleasantly surprised by how challenging it was. Multiplayer is also a lot of fun. Despite this, it's still pretty depressing...

Re: Best Side-Scrolling Mario

I'm gonna hafta join the Super Mario Bros. 3 crowd. Nostalgia has a big influence, but even playing the game today offers bountiful rewards.

That being said Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island...

Re: Guilty for not finishing a game

When I read the title of this post I immediately thought: "Persona 3!"

I'm also about 20-25 hours into the game, and while I love it immensely while I play it, I have trouble finding the...

Re: Your "To Do List"

@ abfackeln
I agree the game may have worked better if it offered alternate controls, or at least let you move Link around with the D-pad. Even still, I loved how the touch screen was utilized and...

Re: 2009 Best and Worst Movies

I also have to add "Where the Wild Things Are." It's tough for me to explain why this movie is so marvelous, other than it elicited quite intense emotions - from elation to sadness. It was also a...

Re: Your "To Do List"

What don't you like about Phantom Hourglass? Personally, it's one of my favourite Zelda's because of the innovative touch-screen mechanics. They made playing a Zelda game fresh and fun, and was a...

Re: The Games of Q1 2010

I've been reading impressions of the Japanese version of FFXIII. It looks like the developers have made some interesting design decisions (no more towns!). The game certainly looks like a spiritual...

Re: 2009 Best and Worst Movies

There are a still a lot of movies I need to see this year, so I don't feel qualified to make a list. However, I will say that Inglorious Basterds is probably my favourite film of 2009 (so far). I...

Re: When I fire up my old _______ , it's to play __________ one more time!

When I fire up my old Nintendo 64, it's to play Zelda: Ocarina of Time one more time! God even thinking about that game makes me happy.

Re: Avatar 3D

I was so emotionally invested in the film that the well-trodden story and underdeveloped characters didn't bother me. In fact, I'd argue Cameron's broad painting of good and evil adds to the...

Re: Why is Mass Effect so critically acclaimed and popular?

Thanks for the advice.

Evidently, it turns out my mistake was choosing to play as a Vanguard. I restarted the game as the more appropriate Soldier class. Ironically, now I find the game a bit too...

Re: YOUR games of the decade?

This list will probably change once I remember all the games I forgot, but here is my top 10 (in order):

1. Resident Evil 4
2. Metal Gear Solid 2
3. Super Mario Galaxy
4. Final Fantasy XII
5....

Re: Paranormal Activity

I was also creeped out by the movie, and had trouble sleeping afterwards! Very effective.

*minor spoilers*

The only thing that really annoyed me was the characterization of the boyfriend....
