Re: Final Fantasy XIII

RandomRob, I approached it from a very different perspective than you. I went in asking myself the question, "Am I going to like this game?", which caused me to be unable to overlook the shitty...

Re: Final Fantasy XIII

I don't know man. Maybe this game just isn't for me. I played through the chapter with Lake Bresha just now. So far, the only strategy I had to use was occasionally switching paradigms when my health...

Re: Final Fantasy XIII

I recently started playing 13, and I have a question. How long do you have to play the game before it's no longer efficient to use auto-attack every single turn? I'm Currently three and a half hours...

Re: Please Rate this Review: Dragon Age: Leliana's Song

Ok, I fine tuned it one more time. I was having a hard time balancing necessary "gist" with providing too much information, but I think I found a good balance.

Ground. I removed all plot specifics, and characters are no longer described.

Please Rate this Review: Beat Hazard

High: failing to find a song that is not fun to play
Low: trying to play the game with a podcast
WTF: is that debris, a bullet, or an explosion?

Beat Hazard is top-down shooter you can get on...

Re: Please Rate this Review: Lego Harry Potter: Years 1 - 4

I only played a little of this game, and I thought the level design was awful. Half the time there would be some item that I clearly needed to get, but I had no idea where to get it, so I just...

Re: Dragon Age 2

I agree in principle with Joetbd. Mass Effect 2 was not "dumbed down" so much as it was streamlined. The only thing I didn't like about the changes was that I could no longer upgrade many of my...

Re: Please Rate this Review: Dragon Age: Leliana's Song

Richard,

I edited it a few times, and made it much shorter and less spoiler-y.

Re: Dragon Age 2

The sales figures are really interesting. I think it has to do with the argument that ME is neither a pure shooter nor a pure rpg, but DA is a pure rpg.

However, when I said the "traditional...

Re: Dragon Age 2

Joetbd. I'm not exactly sure what the "general" part means. I doubt you'll be commanding troops, although it'd be interesting to see. I think it's most likely that they're referring to how you need...

Dragon Age 2

Dragon Age 2 was just announced, and in case you haven't read the initial previews yet, there are some changes.

1) You play a human named Hawke, who is fully voiced in a Shepard-esque way.
2)...

Re: Please Rate this Article: Examining Choice in Dragon Age: Origins

Good tip, Adem. I cut down on the intro condescension. I'm currently working on reducing the overall size of the article.

Re: Best Way to play Civilization?

The only acceleration setting I could find had to do with how many years pass in each turn. Does that affect the speed of building and research?

Also, what are other ways to make it so I can build...

Please Rate this Review: Dragon Age: Leliana's Song

High: killing the secondary villain
Low: being asked to care about a pointless character's death
WTF: why do "bards" do this?

Leliana's song is a downloadable adventure for Dragon Age: Origins....

Best Way to play Civilization?

Hey Guys,

I got Civilization IV over the summer Steam sale because I liked the turn-based nation building in the Total War series and the grid-based combat of the Fire Emblem series, so I assumed...

Characterizing Shepard

Hey guys,

I've played Mass Effect 2 as both a male Paragon and a female Renegade. I noticed that although what you choose to do as Shepard can often be a day/night disparity, I think there are...

Re: Please Rate this Article: Examining Choice in Dragon Age: Origins

I liked the idea of separating the good from the bad, so I did that. I think the article makes more sense now.

Re: Please Rate this Article: Examining Choice in Dragon Age: Origins

Sparky, you're right about needing to combine some of my guidelines, particularly 1 and 2, which I will do now.

With regards to the format and the structure, I considered placing the rules first,...

Re: Please Rate this Article: Examining Choice in Dragon Age: Origins

Thanks for the feedback.

Regarding Number 5, you're right, surprises are good, but players shouldn't feel like they're shooting in the dark. That's why I said they should be aware of either the...

Many readers and staff on this site have praised Bioware’s high fantasy epic Dragon Age for its compelling story, loveable characters, and nail-biting decisions. Truly, it is a great game, but no one...

Re: Please Rate this Article: Melee Combat in the Current Gen

I totally agree with you about lock on. Personally, I think the only games in which locking on is cheap are shooters. Even among shooters, it'd only be cheap if the game was going for realism....

Re: Please Rate this Article: Melee Combat in the Current Gen

I see; Assassin's Creed has a good camera too, but there's one part of the second game where you're in an area with a lot of trees, and the camera doesn't penetrate the leaves.

I think it's...
