Re: Please Rate This Review: Dead or Alive: Dimensions

Hey Macstorm, sorry I'm late getting back to this; the system didn't notify me of your update. The edits were good, so green light from me.

Re: Please Rate This Review: Portal 2 Third Opinion

Great. Double-check the spelling (I think you have "fair" where you meant "fare" and a few other minor things) and it should be ready to go.

Re: Please Rate This Review: Portal 2 Third Opinion

The second paragraph starts out a little rough. "Case in point" seems an odd thing to say, since you're obviously talking about Portal 2. The sentence after that is a fragment. Try to be as clear as...

Re: Please Rate This Review: Dead or Alive: Dimensions

You need to edit in a few places. Sentence 2 : "All the game's characters in this fighting game series..." feels redundant (and anyway would need to be "games'").

Para 4: "gamut" seems at odds...

Re: In which Sparky attempts to crowdsource a PC

Huh, I must have just looked at the ZT series.

Re: In which Sparky attempts to crowdsource a PC

I considered them, but the power supplies seemed a bit anemic.

Re: In which Sparky attempts to crowdsource a PC

Really? The few posts I'd read suggested the Marvell controllers are trouble. I know that there was some problem with the 3 GB/s SATA ports on the older chipset, but the recent revision supposedly...

Re: In which Sparky attempts to crowdsource a PC

So, here's what I've lined up. Any last-minute warnings?

Case: Antec 900 is widely recommended, and the aesthetics suit me.

CPU: i7 2600k - I'm primarily future-proofing here.

Mobo: ASUS...

Re: In which Sparky attempts to crowdsource a PC

Also, Li-Ion, have you had any of the sleep problems that are being reported with that Asus board?

Re: In which Sparky attempts to crowdsource a PC

Thanks for all the info, Coyls. I think, given the rapid iteration in the graphics card market, that I'll take a lower-end one now (probably the 6870) and then upgrade later in the life-cycle of the...

Re: In which Sparky attempts to crowdsource a PC

That brings up a couple of additional questions. Keep in mind, even if I build it, I'm not going to be a major tweaker.

i5 vs. i7 - is the added performance worth the extra $80? Naively, it seems...

Re: In which Sparky attempts to crowdsource a PC

Thanks for the info, guys. A few questions...

1) Do I need to shell out for a serious cooler if I'm not planning to overclock? Related: how well did that Mugen fit in the case? All these coolers...

Re: Please Rate This Review: Knights Contract

I like the changes; this is getting pretty close, imo.

One thing you should clarify: Trent indicated that you could pick Gretchen up and carry her around without penalty. Was this not true for...

Re: Please Rate This Review: Knights Contract

This comes across as a pretty personal review, by which I mean that you show up a lot in it. I think it could do with a little less of the signposting ("...I've established...") and a little stronger...

In which Sparky attempts to crowdsource a PC

Not really, but since I've decided to make one last stab at this PC gaming thing, I'd like some advice.

First thing, I know that the most economical choice, in principle, is to construct my own...

Re: Please Rate This Review: Monster Tale Second Opinion

The "low" goes on a bit too long now. Those notes should be quick and punchy, which you can afford to do now that you've put more detail in the body. Also, I'm not a fan of asking a question at the...

Re: Please Rate This Review: L.A. Noire

This looks pretty good, but that paragraph about dramatic weight still needs some work. It ends up being redundant; if you like the second way you phrased it better, just use that. Also, the...
