Space Channel 5 – Second Opinion

I agree with Chi on the issue of Ulalas sex appeal and the unusual style of the game. From first glance, Space Channel 5 is unlike anything Ive seen before and the overall design gives it the feel of an interactive American Bandstand or Soul Train -- or MTVs The Grind for our younger readers. Granted some of her dancing and gyrations can best be described as "suggestive," it is all in keeping with the direction the designers are heading. The character and level designs are perfect for this type of game and the mannerisms and animations of the supporting characters are hilarious. Combined with the catchy music, all of these elements come together to add personality and flare to a game already ripe with individuality.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater

Game Description: From grinding to sliding to riding rails, you can do it all in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. You can free-skate around a number of parks, malls, and high schools without any hassles from the cops. Get aggressive and grind like a pro without worrying about skinned knees, and jump off tall buildings and walk away to tell the tale. Now you can become a pro skater without even buying a board.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater – Review

To watch any of the skateboarding commercials these days, you'd think that skateboarding was as illegal and immoral as highway drag racing. They all follow the same recipe—ending with skateboarders being chased away by the police or some sort of authority figure from wherever they were trying to indulge in their sport (with a few shots of disapproving elderly bystanders for that added touch).

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater – Second Opinion

While performing tricks and scoring in a free fashion was a total blast, I found trying to complete the various goals in the one-player mode to acquire tapes to be less thrilling. Like Dale previously mentioned, one of the major problems is repetition.

Vanark – Review

Of all the games released that are based on hit titles in their respective genres, few escape the stigma of being a clone or rehash. Those that do usually do so because either there is such a dearth of that type of game on a system, or that the developer did such a great overall job that the similarities can be ignored. In the case of Vanark, it is such an underwhelming game, that as a whole it cannot shine.

Vanark

Game Description: In the tradition of classic space shooters like Star Fox and Defender comes Vanark. Fight and fly across Mars, blazing through narrow tunnels and zooming over molten lava in your perilous quest to save the universe. Destroy terrifying bosses and engage in non-stop 3D shooter action as you configure your agile ship with a variety of powerful weapons like homing and rapid-fire beams, and join in the good fight as a member of Team VANARK.

Jackie Chan Stuntmaster – Review

So the question that begs to be asked is that if Jackie is already an impressive videogame in of himself, does the world really need a videogame in his likeness? Probably not, but that didn't stop the developers of Radical Entertainment from trying.
