Tony Hawk's Pro Skater – Second Opinion

While performing tricks and scoring in a free fashion was a total blast, I found trying to complete the various goals in the one-player mode to acquire tapes to be less thrilling. Like Dale previously mentioned, one of the major problems is repetition.

Vanark – Review

Of all the games released that are based on hit titles in their respective genres, few escape the stigma of being a clone or rehash. Those that do usually do so because either there is such a dearth of that type of game on a system, or that the developer did such a great overall job that the similarities can be ignored. In the case of Vanark, it is such an underwhelming game, that as a whole it cannot shine.

Vanark

Game Description: In the tradition of classic space shooters like Star Fox and Defender comes Vanark. Fight and fly across Mars, blazing through narrow tunnels and zooming over molten lava in your perilous quest to save the universe. Destroy terrifying bosses and engage in non-stop 3D shooter action as you configure your agile ship with a variety of powerful weapons like homing and rapid-fire beams, and join in the good fight as a member of Team VANARK.

Jackie Chan Stuntmaster

Game Description: International stuntman, martial artist, and filmmaker extraordinaire Jackie Chan leaps onto the PlayStation in an action-packed game of his own. Featuring Chan's signature moves, voice, and humor, players guide the stuntmaster through 15 levels of martial arts mayhem to save his grandfather and retrieve a stolen package from a gang of crooks. Jackie Chan Stuntmaster focuses on both Chan's martial arts expertise and his agility as a stuntman. The fighting system is based on his signature fighting style—in addition to throws and combos, specialized moves are incorporated to allow players to use chairs, boxes, ladders, bottles, and even a fish. At the conclusion of the game, players are treated to a "making of" video, which showcases footage of Chan at his motion-capture session.

Jackie Chan Stuntmaster – Review

So the question that begs to be asked is that if Jackie is already an impressive videogame in of himself, does the world really need a videogame in his likeness? Probably not, but that didn't stop the developers of Radical Entertainment from trying.

Jackie Chan Stuntmaster – Second Opinion

You'd have to search pretty far and wide to find bigger Jackie Chan fans than the two reviewers of Midway's latest. Like Chi, I was waiting with baited breath to play this game as soon as I heard it was in development, however since then my interest has waned severely. This was mainly due to the lack of industry buzz about the game and the fact that early demos of the game made it look like just another Final Fight clone with Jackie Chan's name plastered on it.

Front Mission 3

Game Description: Using a turn-based combat system; the player controls giant fighting robots called "wanzers" in order to fulfill mission objectives or to defeat foes in mechanical warafre. Robots can be continually upgraded by purchasing or scavenging new weapons/ armor/ computers/ ect. This game takes a new approach to increasing the depth of the game creating the Double Feature Scenario which allows the player to choose one of two completely different character viewpoint within the same general plot of the game.

Front Mission 3 – Second Opinion

This game really surprised me. I generally don't get too excited about turned-based RPGs (I lost interest about midway through Shining Force), but I couldn't stop playing FM3, and it's difficult to explain why. Like Chi, I have mixed feelings about the game. FM3 left me feeling short-changed on several occasions. And yet, this game managed to pull me in and keep me interested. I found myself addicted to the fun battle scenarios, and the story proved just compelling enough for me to keep plugging away at this futuristic RPG.
