Ouya Kickstarter knocks it out of the park in 24 hours

Ouya Kickstarter knocks it out of the park in 24 hours

A console start-up could be set to become a new cornerstone of the home gaming arena thanks to a wildly successful Kickstarter project launched yesterday.

Resident Evil 6 demo impressions

Capcom released the demo for Resident Evil 6 today. What's that? You didn't know, and didn't play it? That's pretty understandable... it's exclusive to Xbox 360 owners at the moment, and of that group, only to people who bought a new copy of Dragon's Dogma.

Video: Regular Guiseppe, The Third Mario Brother

Mario and Luigi have been busy the last couple of years. The 3DS has been crammed with all sorts of Mario-themed adventures from Mario Kart 7 to Super Mario 3D Land to Mario Tennis: Open—Luigi has even gotten his own sequel this year. Needless to say, the Mario Brothers are busy. But even so, does that make it okay to leave their other less-talented brother behind to man the shop. Doesn't he deserve some of the glory?

Extra Credits: EC Fund Update

With so many platforms and the influx of new funding sources, Indie game development is looking like a surer bet than it ever has. However, as the guys at Extra Credits repeatedly point out in this video, once you actually attempt it, you might have to temper your expectations.

Gamecritics After Dark Episode 3: The Avatar Show

Tonight (or today, depending on when you choose to listen) we join Richard, Kristin, and guests Aaron and Anna for a very special Avatar-themed podcast. No, not the stupid M. Night Shyamalan adaptation or James Cameron film, we're talking about the real meat of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. We talk about our favorite episodes and characters, followed by rampant gushing about everything related to bending, sky bisons, and more. Plus, we engage in rampant speculation as to the identity of Amon, all of which turns out to be spectacularly wrong. Enjoy!

Second Skin Review

Second Skin Image

Second Skin is a 2008 documentary by Juan Carlos Piñeiro Escoriaza about MMO players' "second skin"—their avatars and virtual life. While looking at those into titles like World of Warcraft, EverQuest, Second Life, and others, MMO players' lives seem like an easy target for humor, Second Skin manages to avoid that.

Armchair Analysis: The correction period continues

Between Sega Europe's painful restructuring and Activision's dismantling of Radical Entertainment, this past week has been another one of those weeks that we'd rather forget. It's always unfortunate when people lose their jobs, and downsizing doesn't often instill confidence that the affected industry is moving in the right direction. These moves are a continuation of the state of correction that the video game industry is in—especially in the console sector.

Video: No off days for Max Payne

You wouldn't know it to look at him, but Max Payne does take days off from being Max Payne—at least he tries to.

Mass Effect 3: Extended Cuts and Harada speaks!

Mass Effect 3 Screenshot

So, the Mass Effect 3 "extended cut" DLC amending the old endings came out. It's a free add-on and I'm pretty sure it provides an auto-save right near the end of the game for those who may not have a file at the appropriate point—I was positive that I didn't, but when I booted the game up, there it was. It could be my imagination, but I'm guessing the developers included this save as part of the DLC to avoid further outcry.

Recently released Half-Life concept art is rumored to belong to the very long-awaited Half-Life 2: Episode 3. The Internet briefly caught fire before the denials came down from Valve. Going by Dorkly's Half-Life spoof, whenever a sequel to the episodic games does come, Gordon Freeman is likely to remain a silent character.
