Video: Man hacks Earthbound to propose to girlfriend

If you are a guy and you ever find a girl that will willingly play an old emulated version of Earthbound with you—while wearing a cocktail dress, no less—you had better marry her, or the rest of us will find you and kill you.

For those impatient types and those that can't watch someone play Earthbound for half an hour, you can skip to the 20:00 minute mark to get to the actual proposal.

Video: If games had super-easy mode

In honor of Brad's gaming brick wall blog post and the comments that followed, here is College Humor parody video. Would some of those classic games have been as revered without the legendarily tough stages? You be the judge.

Video: Hacked Kinect renders interactive "almost holographic" 3D

Perhaps this was Microsoft's plan all along with the Kinect. Let hackers, modders and tinkerers do all of the work selling the capabilities of its new "controller" and sit back and do little or nothing to help its own cause. Going by the dearth of system-selling first-party Kinect software, that is the only conclusion I can come to.

Video: The problem with warp whistles

In honor of the upcoming release of Super Mario All-Stars: Limited Edition, here is another Super Mario send up from the guys at College Humor. It makes you feel bad for skipping to the end of Super Mario Bros. 3—not that any of us did that of course.

Video: Nintendo trademarks "on like Donkey Kong," Stephen Colbert pokes fun

Now that it is about to release Donkey Kong Country Returns, Nintendo goes out and trademarks a catchphrase that no one says anymore. Just like a corporation to be so far behind the times. Stephen Colbert and his writers took notice though and came up with their own. Not the best skit, but the catchphrase for Kirby is the best.

Video: Star Trek fanatic recreates Starship Enterprise in Minecraft

Some of you may have heard about a little game called Minecraft. It's all the rage among anyone who has always wanted to live in a real Legoland. Some of the creations have been incredibly creative. Take this guy in the video below. He has created a 1:1 scale model of the Starship Enterprise. Yes, the Starship Enterprise. At 1:1 scale.

As of the posting of this video, he was asking others to help him complete his project. Given the current nature of the video game culture (and the Internet), the Enterprise has probably since been reduced to a pile of rubble by "helpful" griefers. But that doesn't matter because proof of its existence has been recorded for prosperity.

Video: Goldeneye 007 (N64) vs GoldenEye 007 (Wii)

Want to make your Wii graphics shine? Put them next to Nintendo 64 graphics.

Seriously, in one frame I was looking at a long black "thing" from the Nintendo 64 version of the GoldenEye 007. And I only realized it was a helicopter because I had the volume turned up and could hear the sound of whirling blades.

Fans of the original should take a look as it would give you pause. After all Rare isn't going to make a HD update, Nintendo doesn't want to make one and Activision holds the James Bond license. If you want to get an update to the Nintendo 64 classic, you probably can't do better than this remake.

Video: New Super Mario Bros. 3?

Still don't see why people with such talent don't just create their own games and not "enhance" or extend games that already exist. BUT, this is a pretty impressive feat for one person. And it is still Super Mario Bros. 3. So Super Mario Bros. 3 with New Super Mario Bros. graphics and gameplay elements? Yes, please!

Video: Jimmy Fallon demos Kinect and gives it away to audience

While watching I was wondering if the audience was just being polite seeing Jimmy Fallon and Nina Dobrev flail and jump around. They were very quiet during volleyball. The laughs didn't really come until the dancing segments. Fallon lost some cred there. (As an aside to Microsoft, I would recommend that you only demo Dance Central from now on. It is the only game that really seems to work with Kinect.) That said, the Late Night audience really seemed to be buying into the Kinect concept. They certainly "bought" into it when they realized—or maybe they had already assumed—they'd be getting a Kinect (and Xbox 360) for free.

Video: Portal recreated in LittleBigPlanet 2 Beta

Can't wait for the day when someone recreates in LittleBigPlanet 3 or 4, a game that someone created for the first time in LittleBigPlanet 2.
